The Cigarette Smoking Man oversaw Scully's initial briefing on her assignment to the X-Files to debunk the work of FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder, as well as her debriefing. The Cigarette Smoking Man also stole the evidence obtained by Mulder and Scully during the show's Pilot episode, and moved it to a secret, underground storage room at the Pentagon. Although uttering only four audible words in the entire 1st season of the show, CSM eventually developed into the series' primary antagonist. The character is most commonly referred to by this description because he is almost always seen chain-smoking Morley cigarettes, and also because like other villains on the show, he has no known real name.
This is C.G.B. Spender, often better known as the Cigarette Smoking Man. This was the “mystery man” in the series. Was he there to help Mulder find the truth or hide it? Eventually it was determined he was Fox Mulder’s biological father. He was definitely one of the more fascinating characters on the show.
CSM has three accessories if you don’t count the Sideshow figure stand. He has one loose cigarette, one pack of “Morley” cigarettes. The other accessory is by far the best. It is a high-powered sniper rifle on a tripod. The overall product on the tripod makes it an excellent piece.
The head sculpt is excellent!! Not much more to say about it. Andy Bergholtz at Sideshow did an EXCELLENT job. The figure bears an uncanny likeness to the actor, William B. Davis. The deep wrinkles or “character lines” to be politically correct, are right on. They even sculpted in a patch on the side of his neck. I remember it from the show but don’t recall what it was.
